Jackie Boone

The Washington Parish Free Fair Executive Committee and Committee Chairmen are proud to announce that Jackie Boone has been selected as the 2025 Fair Honoree.

Jackie is the daughter of the late Bill and Margaret Ryals of Bogalusa. She resides in Angie, Louisiana, with her husband of 41 years, Robert W. Boone. She is a graduate of Bogalusa High School and Southeastern Louisiana University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and a Master’s in Administration and Supervision. Jackie retired after 42 years in education, teaching kindergarten for 19 years and serving as a principal for 23 years.

Robert and Jackie have five children: Reagan Boone Smith and husband Kyle; Amanda Boone Fowler and husband Dustin; Blaire Boone Thompson and husband Lincoln; John Robert Boone and wife Haley; and Morgan Boone Varnado and husband Drew. They are blessed with 14 beautiful grandchildren, whom they enjoy tremendously. Jackie is a member of Stateline Missionary Baptist Church. Her hobbies include spending time with family, making quilts, reading, caring for plants, and decorating.

Jackie served as Junior Fine Arts Co-Chair from 1987-2003 and later became Chairman in 2004. She was asked to serve as Education Building Chairman in 2006 and continues in that role today. She has also been a Board Member representing Ward VII for many years.

Jackie served on the Nominating Committee in 2007, 2014, and 2022. She was the 2014 Vice President and a Roll of Honor member, and she was selected as a Honor Roll Star in 2014. Jackie was Fair President in 2017 and 2018. She is a member of the Past President’s Club and served on the Executive Committee for five years.

A talented artist, Jackie has designed the Fair poster three times - in 1989, 1997, and 2006. She was instrumental in organizing Washington Parish students and local artists to design and paint quilt squares on wood, which are displayed in the Washington Parish Fair’s restroom facilities. During the Fair, Jackie takes pride in decorating the Education Building and her camper with homegrown pumpkins and fall decor. She loves entering plants into the Flower House where she has won many Judges Awards. Additionally, she enjoys entering exhibits into the Homemakers Building as well as photographs in the Fine Arts Building. She has been honored to attend the annual Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals (LAFF) Convention in Baton Rouge, representing the Washington Parish Free Fair, for the past 10 years.

Jackie has many early childhood memories including her mom frying chicken on parade day, dancing on the Fair stage, and watching her siblings show livestock. Her picnic memories and seeing family and friends who attend the parade contribute to her choosing Wednesday as the best day of the fair. She loves all the Fair events, but the parade has a special place in her heart.

Jackie wants to sincerely thank the board members and committee chairmen for bestowing this honor on her. She knows that her Mom and Dad would be so proud because they were always her greatest supporters.

There is no one more deserving than Jackie Boone to receive this prestigious award. It is with great appreciation of her long-term active service that the Washington Parish Fair Association Board honors Jackie Boone as its 2025 Fair Honoree.
